School closures in March 2020 ended in-class delivery of Safety Smarts through the end of the 2019-2020 school year, although 40,662 children were reached from September to mid-March. The opening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year came with restrictions limiting entry of external programs and organizations into schools. A comprehensive evaluation of the program, its teaching methods and tools has been completed. New and adapted presentations will be available to schools and families through virtual delivery beginning in January 2021.
