The Alberta Farm Safety Centre, a non-profit society, promotes safe agricultural practices through the development and delivery of educational materials, workshops, displays and safety events that involve thousands of rural Albertans throughout the province.
In the early 1990’s the coordinator of the Alberta Agriculture Farm Safety Program began searching for a community interested in promoting farm safety within Alberta.
The Lethbridge region has a very high concentration of livestock and crop production and was seen as an appropriate area for development of a Farm Safety Centre. Through corporate, private, provincial and municipal fund raising, and with the continued support of Alberta Agriculture our 1600-foot facility was opened on June 6, 1997.
Since 1997 the Alberta Farm Safety Centre has provided various educational programs.
Some of these have included:
- Tractor Rodeo
- Safety Kids Fun Fair
- Farmer Pesticide Certification program
- Safety Saturdays
- Garden Equipment Safety program
- Small Power Tool Safety program
- Chemical Protection program
- Protect Your Health – Wear the Gear
- Rural Hazard Management program

All of our programs raise individual awareness of the many potential hazards found on the average farm and teach safe responses to each.
