Agriculture is one of the largest industries in Alberta. Individuals, who make agriculture their way of life, whether as farm families or farm employees, are this industry's most valuable resource. Their safety and good health is the focus of this publication.
Farmers and ranchers live and raise their families at their workplace, and so face safety issues unknown to other business owners or employees. Managing rural risk is a very unique challenge, which changes from region to region and farm to farm.
Rural safety initiatives across Alberta are often quite fragmented.
This catalogue is an attempt to connect the various stakeholders in Alberta who are now involved in rural risk management efforts.
What has been done? Who is involved? What resources are available?
Working together and sharing what has been learned and developed will answer these questions and benefit everyone with an interest in preventing farm-related injury incidents in Alberta.
If you would like to submit information to be included in a future Farm Safety Resource Catalogue, please call the Alberta Farm Safety Centre.
Every effort was made to make the information in this publication as accurate as possible. If there are errors, we apologize.
The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) funded the development of this catalog and their support is gratefully acknowledged.
